The ongoing evaluation of practice and technique is fundamental to improvement in patient care. Mr Hall will ask you to complete a number of validated questionnaires before and after surgical procedures to ensure that objective measures are used to assess and improve outcomes. This anonymous data may be used within clinical research papers to ensure that your treatment adds to the ‘knowledge bank’ of neurosurgery. Much of surgical practice has historically been based on the anecdotal experiences of surgeons. Whilst experience certainly has an important role in evaluating treatment and techniques, only by collecting objective data from patients can we truly evaluate and improve.
If you do not wish to be part of this data collection please indicate this and Mr Hall will not ask you to complete any evaluation forms.
Honest feedback is also important and Mr Hall encourages you to share your consultation and treatment experiences, good or bad so he and others can learn from this.
